Your cart is saved in your browser, so it will be waiting for you when you come back on the same device.
Can I change what’s in my cart?
Of course. Head to your cart to change quantities or remove items at any time. Your subtotal and shipping costs update right away.

What to do if something isn’t quite right.

We’re so sorry if that happens! Please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and a photo of the damage, and we’ll work out a replacement or refund with you.
Matcha basics
Grades, servings, caffeine and taste.
What’s the difference between ceremonial and everyday matcha?
Ceremonial matcha is made from the youngest first-harvest leaves. It’s silky, naturally sweet and rich in umami, so it shines when whisked with just water. Everyday matcha is bright and balanced, with a slightly bolder flavor that holds its own in lattes and smoothies.
Our Matcha Guide compares every grade side by side.
How much matcha should I use per serving?
About 2 g, which is roughly 1 teaspoon or two bamboo scoops. For a traditional bowl, whisk it with 70 ml of water at 75–80 °C. For a latte, whisk it with 50 ml of water, then top up with about 200 ml of milk.
Using our Matcha Latte Blend? Take 2 heaped teaspoons (8 g) per glass.
Does matcha contain caffeine?
Yes. Matcha naturally contains caffeine, typically less per serving than a strong cup of coffee, together with L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea leaves. The exact amount depends on the grade and how much you use.
If you’re sensitive to caffeine or have questions about your health, please check with your doctor.
What does matcha taste like?
Good matcha tastes fresh and green, with a gentle natural sweetness and a savory, umami depth. Ceremonial grades are smooth and mellow, while everyday grades are brighter and a little bolder.
Tastes harsh or bitter? Your water is probably too hot. Let it cool for a minute after boiling.
Why is my matcha clumpy?
Matcha is an ultra-fine powder, so it naturally forms little clumps, especially when it meets a bit of moisture. Sift it through a small sieve before adding water, then whisk briskly in an M-shaped motion until frothy. Our step-by-step whisking guide shows you how.
Storage & care
Keep your matcha fresh and your teaware happy.
How should I store my matcha?
Keep it sealed airtight in a cool, dark place. Once opened, store it in the fridge and enjoy it within 4–6 weeks for the best color and flavor.
Taking it out of the fridge? Let the tin reach room temperature before opening it, so no moisture sneaks in.
How do I care for my bamboo whisk?
Soak the prongs in warm water for a minute or two before whisking so they soften. Afterwards, rinse the whisk in warm water (no soap) and let it air-dry upright on a whisk holder so it keeps its shape. Each whisk is handmade, so small variations are part of its charm.
Is the ceramic matcha bowl dishwasher safe?
We recommend washing your bowl by hand with warm water and a soft cloth rather than using the dishwasher. Each bowl is handmade with a food-safe glaze, and gentle care keeps it looking its best.
